MediFlow

The Team
Teamname: MediFlow
Members: Julia Haupt, Kamar Abdeddaim, Nils Weßler
What is your idea about?
With MediFlow, we are pursuing a clear mission: to drive forward the digitalisation of patient care - more efficiently, more smart and more patient-centric than ever before. The situation in German hospitals is critical: in 2024, 79% of hospitals made losses, with a bed occupancy rate of only 71.2%. Equitable patient care requires modern technologies to allocate resources more efficiently and ensure precise bed allocation - especially regarding the 2025 hospital reform.
How did you get together as a team?
As a founding team, we got to know each other on the Business Analytics & Econometrics Master's degree programme - focused on the intersection of business and data analytics. Our joint strength lies in the application of machine learning to real economic challenges. We are fascinated by how data can be used to make the right economic decisions and sustainably improve processes.
How did you come up with your idea?
The idea for MediFlow was born during a university course where we were tasked with creating a data-driven product. Our thoughts immediately turned to the digitalization of the healthcare industry, recognizing its crucial role in shaping the future.
What are you studying/working or what have you studied?
All the founders of our team are studying the Master degree Business Analytics & Econometrics at the University of Cologne and have a Bachelor's degree in Economics/Business Administration.
Detailed description of your start-up
With ML-supported predictive models, we create a platform that uses hospital resources more efficiently, reduces costs and improves patient care. MediFlow uses precise predictions to automate and individualise the entire patient flow - from admission to discharge. It therefore supports bed management in making informed decisions on a daily basis. In this way, we create significant added value for both hospitals and patients.
