From PhD to Innovator Workshop (GB)

Ignite your entrepreneurial spirit! In the two-day innovation workshop from Young Entrepreneurs in Science, tailored to researchers of all disciplines, you will discover your entrepreneurial skills. Guided by professional innovation coaches, you will develop ideas for a potential business case in small groups. The workshop takes place on-site in Cologne between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm. Participation is free and no prior knowledge is needed.
Who can participate?
Our workshops are tailored to PhDs and postdocs of all disciplines, as well as early-career researchers and academic staff.
I do not have an idea for a business venture as of yet. Can I participate in the workshop nonetheless?
Yes, our workshops are aimed at researchers who have not started a business, but want to explore their entrepreneurial potential. You can participate in the workshop even if you do not have a concrete idea of how to translate your research into a business venture.

Day 1: From PhD to Sciencepreneur
Discover what it means to be an entrepreneur, explore your entrepreneurial strengths, and meet our experienced role models, who will share their failures and successes.
Day 2: The Design Thinking Process
Learn and apply the Design Thinking principles to refine ideas for potential products. We will explore the concepts of empathy and human-centred design, and create a prototype for the final presentation.
